GSMA, MCMC, and MMU have inked a significant partnership deal aimed at broadening telecom training initiatives across the ASEAN region. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed today solidifies their commitment to extend the Converged Telecommunications Policy and Regulations (CTPR) Masterclass beyond Malaysia.
The ceremony, held at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, witnessed the presence of Malaysia’s Communications Minister, Fahmi Fadzil. The signatories included Tan Sri Mohamad Salim bin Fateh Din, Chairman of MCMC; Prof. Dr. Dato’ Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President and CEO of MMU; and Mr. John Giusti, Chief Regulatory Officer of GSMA.
This collaboration, which traces back to 2015, initially focused on providing the Masterclass within Malaysia. However, the renewed agreement aims to transcend borders, with plans to roll out the program across ASEAN Member States over the next three years. The journey is set to kick off in Jakarta, Indonesia, this year.
The CTPR Masterclass, tailored for mid to senior-level telecom professionals, covers a spectrum of topics crucial for navigating the converged telecommunications landscape. With 14 modules ranging from policy and regulations to AI and big data analytics, the program promises comprehensive training facilitated by both local and international industry experts.
Expressing support for the initiative, Tan Sri Mohamad Salim bin Fateh Din highlighted MCMC’s commitment to providing a platform for industry professionals to stay abreast of industry trends and innovations. John Giusti from GSMA emphasized the collaborative nature of the program, stressing the importance of public-private-academic partnerships in addressing the needs of regulatory professionals.
Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud underscored MMU’s role as a Research-led, Industry-driven University (RIU), ensuring that the course content remains relevant and up-to-date. The trio extended invitations to industry stakeholders to participate in the CTPR Masterclass, emphasizing the importance of bridging the knowledge gap in the ever-evolving telecom sector.
The expansion of the CTPR Masterclass signifies a milestone in regional cooperation, promising to equip telecom professionals across ASEAN with the necessary tools and insights to navigate an increasingly complex industry landscape.
